It is with great sadness that the Wycliffe Hall community shares the news of the death of Revd Dr Richard Turnbull, former Principal of the Hall. Richard served as Principal from 2005 to 2012.
Richard was a very distinguished church historian, writing books on Shaftesbury: The Great Reformer, and Reviving the Heart: The Story of the Eighteenth Century Revival.
After leaving Wycliffe, Richard went on to serve as Director of the Centre for Enterprise, Markets and Ethics (CEME), bringing to the role a wide range of experience in business, the church, and public life.
His last round-robin WhatsApp, a few days before his death, ended: ‘When I go, I do so in sure and certain knowledge that I am assured of His love and presence’.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends, at this time.
