About Giving the Church
The nucleus of the church’s vocation is to join the Spirit in giving communion in Christ to others, in the form of new Christian communities, for the benefit of the world. But can the church be a welcome gift?”
In Giving the Church, leading ecclesiologist Michael Moynagh draws together recent thinking from the worlds of ecclesiology and missiology with significant sociological work on the idea of ‘gift’, to provide a much-needed theological rationale for some of the key missiological and ecclesiological movements in today’s church.
Endorsements for the book:
“Giving the Church is a unique contribution to our thinking about the church and God’s mission for our times, based on wide reading, deep reflection, clear and accessible exposition, a steady flow of stimulating insights, and the persuasive authority of its argument.” -- Paul Avis
"Based on wide research in theology and gift theory, and drawing on decades of experience, Moynagh explores the meaning of the church – especially new Christian communities – as forms of gift-exchange. The result is rich, provocative, and deeply significant for a secularised era, which needs to encounter fresh and accessible embodiments of grace." -- John M.G. Barclay
About The Church as Gift
When Alice stepped through the looking glass, she entered a completely different world. This little book invites you to pass through a theological looking glass and totally re-imagine the church. What would it be like if we saw the church as a gift from God to others to benefit the world? And what does healthy giving look like? Easy to read, the book explores the very nature of generosity. How you give may never be the same again!
The Church as a Gift is a short popular version of the more academic, Giving the Church.
Endorsements for the book:
"Reading this book created a profound theological paradigm within which I had to rethink my attitude to mission, church planting and community formation. It is prophetic in its vision..." -- Revd Canon John McGinley, Myriad Lead at the Gregory Centre for Church Multiplication
"A punchy, intriguing and thought-provoking challenge to be radically generous as a church. Mike not only calls us to learn how to give, but also provides a very fresh look at the need to receive." -- Lucy Moore, Head of the Growing Faith Foundation and founder of Messy Church
